Extended Family Portraits

Artful photomontage showing the genealogy of the Richardson’s large family throughout the years. An interesting aspect is that the photographer is from Chicago, and as seen by the family home, certain areas around the city were quite rural during that time period. In front of the house we see a man reading a newspaper and he was clearly the patriarch of the family.  To the right we see a younger lad on a horse with another man holding the reins. We count seventy three portraits and have never seen this large of a family group in a cabinet card format. We love the bike riders, with the one on the right appearing to be a woman with short hair. Now we could be wrong but the outfit certainly has a feminine flair.  The grouping on the top right shows seven people with the man in back holding two US flags so most likely a July 4th celebration.  The young child just below the house appears to be the youngest addition to this extremely large family tree. The image is in very good plus condition with great tones and contrast.  A nick to the bottom right corner of the image and some wear on the corner of the mounts as seen.  By Hartley’s, Chicago.
